DODD 5 Year Accreditation

The County of Summit Developmental Disabilities board (Summit DD) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a four year accreditation, with an additional year added as recognition of excellence by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD). This amounts to a five-year accreditation and is considered an outstanding accomplishment in the disability field. The Summit DD received this superior accreditation because of the quality of its application, performance during the visitation, and its demonstrated excellence in all program areas. The extra year of accreditation was awarded because the agency achieved a superior score on Ohio’s DD Board evaluation instrument combined with the fact that the Summit DD also was accredited by the Center for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in 2008.

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)

The Summit DD Board received the highest three-year accreditation awarded through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Accreditation is a "seal of quality" that an organization carries when delivering quality services to its customers with positive results.

CARF an international, non-profit organization whose mission is to provide accreditation standards and surveyors for organizations working in the human services field worldwide. CARF accredits the services of an organization only if those services meet the CARF standards in the CARF standards manual.  The standards manuals are then used by an organization as a guideline to review policies and processes. Organizations are assessed on the standards during an on-site survey to determine the organization's conformance to all applicable standards through the observation of services, interviews with persons served and other stakeholders, and review of documentation.

Ohio Partnership for Excellence Silver Designation

In 2007, the Summit DD Board won The Ohio Partnership for Excellence (OPE) Silver "Commitment to Excellence" award.  The OPE measures criteria based on the Baldridge Assesment Process and offers feedback for the organization to improve performance. The success of achieving an award recognizes the benchmark that the Summit DD organization has committed to its delivery of services.
