At Summit DD, making meaningful connections in our community is at the heart of what we do each and every day. The Summit DD Gives Back program proudly encourages team members to engage in volunteerism to support needs in our community.
During the 2024 Summit DD Gives Back program, over 150 Summit DD team members volunteered in Summit County for a combined 660 hours. Wow! Summit DD team members had an incredible impact volunteering in our community during 2024. Some highlights include:
- Sprucing up outdoor spaces, cleaning and organizing the Toy & Resource Center, and engaging in programming with program participants at United Disability Services.
- Revitalizing outdoor spaces at various Summit Metro Parks locations, including the Nature Realm and Liberty Park Center.
- Processing 5,750 pounds of food at the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, which provided 4,792 meals to folks right here in our community.
- Constructing care packages filled with toys, games, coloring supplies and other fun items for children receiving inpatient care at Akron Children’s Hospital.
- Card making and letter writing for over 160 home-bound seniors served by VANTAGE Aging who are enrolled in the Meals on Wheels program.
- Unloading and arranging nearly 3,000 mums to help our friends at Barberton Parks and Recreation get ready for their annual Barberton Mum Festival.
- Sorting and packing school supply bags for over 1,000 Akron Public Schools students with the United Way of Summit and Medina Counties.
- Spreading joy with the Salvation Army by helping sort and pack holiday items for nearly 1300 Summit County families.
