Early Intervention Family Friendly Summer Events

Northeast Ohio Family Fun. Northeast Ohio Family Fun is an online community and resource for parents who are committed to spending quality time making memories together as a family. There are family friendly resources to local indoor and outdoor adventures, as well as activities to do at home for every age group from toddlers to teens.

Fun at First & Main events. In the summer, Summit County’s favorite shopping venue will be hosting FUN, FREE, interactive activities for kids. The event is held once a month on Tuesdays (2024 events include: May 21, June 18, July 16 & August 13) from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at First & Main in Hudson. Each month will have a unique theme that will allow for much fun in the sun for kids and parents alike.

Summit Metro Parks. Check out the Summit Metro Parks. They strive to be inclusive for all citizens and have taken extra steps to accommodate families. Check out parks near you and the resources available to you.

Kids Fest and Duck Race. Join the Rotary Club of Strongsville on June 1st from 11:00 am- 3:00 pm for their Annual Kids Fest. This event is free to the public and great for all ages. Activities include, MetroParks Naturalist Unit, Pony Rides, Face Painting, Inflatables, Touch a Truck, Food, and more. Visit their website for details.

Little Leapers. Little Leapers at Sky Zone is a fun, high-energy play adventure created for parents and little ones to enjoy interactive play structures and games together. (They also have Sensory Hours available. Note, Sensory Hours available at participating locations only. Please check with your local park for availability and details.)

Zoothing Hour at the Akron Zoo. On select days, your Akron Zoo opens at 10am for guests with different abilities who do not like loud noises and/or crowds. Ask about their Sensory Inclusion Program. Always family friendly, the Akron Zoo offers various resources to accommodate guests with sensory processing needs and help make your visit possible. See the Zoo’s website for dates and details.

Monthly Play Groups

Here at Summit DD we have monthly playgroups. We invite you to join our EI SLPs for a morning of play, language learning, and Q&A. For more information on dates and locations of the playgroup, please contact your EI team member.
