Summit DD and Medina DD, in partnership with We Thrive Together, teamed up to create an interactive exposition showing how assistive technology and remote support can increase independence, improve quality of life, and provide access to the community. Nearly 700 attendees joined us for our very first Interactive Tech Expo!

Close to 50 vendors lined the halls of Summit Mall with interactive displays showcasing a variety of tech supports available to folks of all abilities. Interactive displays included technology related to vision & hearing supports, home adaptations, daily living skills & safety, mobility devices and more. Our nearly 700 attendees had the opportunity to see, touch, and explore a wide variety of devices in real time during the expo.
Summit DD and Medina DD also collaborated to bring a mock SMART Home right into the center of the mall! We showcased how the various spaces of someone’s home – like kitchen, bathroom and living room – could use tech items to increase an individual’s independence and foster safety. Attendees could ask questions, try out some of the tools available to help with daily tasks, and explore what sort of items may work best for their own unique circumstances. If that wasn’t enough, the expo also included a full day of educational presentations. Attendees learned how technology can support folks of all abilities across the entire lifespan – from our littlest ones using tech to reach developmental milestones through play, all the way to our older years of life where assistive technology can enhance someone’s ability to safely navigate their environment and promote aging in place.
And a special thank you to Hearts For Music, a non-profit created to provide those with disabilities a place to create music as an ensemble, for an unforgettable musical performance. Their all-abilities orchestra utilizes a combination of keyboards, digital devices such as iPads, and acoustic instruments to perform songs ranging from well-known classical symphonies to present day popular music. This was truly a highlight of the day!
