A 2014 CMS rule called for “conflict free case management”.
This new rule changed the way County Boards delivered services. The CMS transition required County Boards to shift services models so that they would no longer deliver direct services (like day programming and transportation) for individuals. Rather County Boards, like Summit DD, would provide the case management services, healthy and safety oversight (through MUI, provider compliance and QARN services) and act as the connectors to community programs and opportunities for children, individuals and families.
