Summit DD Celebrates Disability Employment Workers

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (known as NDEAM). It is a time to celebrate people of all abilities in the workplace. Employing a diverse workforce gives organizations the chance to solve problems and meet customers’ needs from new and different perspectives. In addition to celebrating employees, NDEAM is also a time to celebrate the partners, like A’vaie from Koinonia Enterprises, who help support the employment needs of those with disabilities. In It Together: Supporting Providers and DSPs through the Pandemic

In this new, ever-changing reality of the COVID-19 pandemic, Summit DD made it our goal to be there for those around us. We ensure that children and adults continue to feel supported. We are also determined to ensure local disability providers and the Direct Service Professionals (DSPs) who work for these providers feel supported as well.

Thank You! Gratitude Donation Drive-Thru a Big Success.

Thanks to you and your generosity, the Summit DD Gratitude Donation Drive-Thru was a huge success! On April 16th, we had a convoy of nearly 150 vehicles drop off thousands of essential items for not only adults and children with developmental disabilities, but also care givers and disability providers in need of crucial supplies. It’s amazing to see a community come together during a time of need. See the impact you made in the video below. Read More ›

Inclusion is Everywhere

It’s hard to believe that just a few weeks ago, on March 2nd, thousands of Summit County residents and countless community entities joined us in celebrating Inclusion Day in honor of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. We laughed, we cheered, we came together and celebrated people of all abilities.

We know in times like these, it’s easy to feel excluded. If you’re feeling alone, stop, take a breath and realize inclusion is everywhere. It’s just a call, text, or email away. So pick up the phone and call someone you care about. Send a funny emoji to your friend. Email a coworker a silly joke. We are not alone. We are all working toward a common goal. No matter our race, age, gender, or ability. You are included. I am included. We are all included.

Thank you for celebrating DD Awareness Month with us. Together, we are making Summit County, the state of Ohio, and the world a better place for all.

Join us as we look back on the Inclusion Day celebration from March 2nd. And together let’s start planning how we are going to make next year’s celebration bigger and better than ever!
