2024 Inclusive Fall Activity Guide

Summer is coming to a close and the pumpkin spice season is creeping in! Which means it’s time for tasty cider, corn mazes, and so many other exciting activities! Nature Based Fall Activities

Summit Metro Parks Fall Hiking Spree
The 61st Annual Fall Hiking Spree is the largest and longest-running event of its kind in the nation. Trails range from easy to challenging. Many of the trails are also wheelchair accessible. Explore the trails while enjoying fall colors, September 1 through November 30! First-year hikers earn a hiking staff and shield. Returning hikers earn the shield. Spree rewards are FREE to Summit County residents. Out-of-county residents pay to receive their hiking rewards ($10 for first-year hikers, $5 for returning hikers). Find more details here!

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens Fall Events
Throughout the fall season, Stan Hywet hosts countless fun events. Including, Woof Walks, Ohio Mart, Murder Mystery Dinners, Photography Walks, and so much more. Get all the details here.

Fall Foliage Driving Tours in Northeast Ohio
As the month of October progresses, we will experience the beautiful fall colors that Ohio is known for. Follow the weekly fall color updates by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) to stay up to date on when the colors are expected to reach peak conditions. City of Cuyahoga Falls Fall Family Fun Fest
Mayor Don Walters and The City of Cuyahoga Falls Parks & Rec Department are excited to announce the return of the Fall Family event to be held at Water Works Park! FREE for everyone! This HUGE event will be a combination of events held in previous years and we can’t wait to see you on Saturday, September 28th, 2-5PM! Details here.

Pumpkin Village at Mapleside Farms
Pumpkin Village is when Mapleside Farms morphs into the finest fall family experience in the country with LIVE entertainment and dozens of special attractions to make everyone feel like a kid again. Harvest Fest at Hale Farm and Village
Harvest time at Hale Farm & Village is a time for natural beauty, busy farm days, and all of our favorite traditional fall scents & flavors! Guests will experience the seasonal work of a 19th century farm, while community partners demonstrate how traditions like cider pressing and fermentation have remained popular and important in our communities today! Halloween Events

Akron Zoo Boo at the Zoo
Dress your little ghosts and goblins in their costumes for everyone’s favorite non-scary Halloween event, Boo at the Zoo, presented by Acme Fresh Market. Bring your own bag or bucket to collect treats from 12 themed treat stations located throughout the zoo. Learn more here.

  • The Zoo also offers a Zoothing Hour on October 26 from 10-11AM. They open an hour early for people with different abilities who don’t like crowds or loud noises to trick-or-treat. Tickets are separate from general admission Boo at the Zoo. Zoothing Hour information can be found here.

Halloween in the Park Hosted By The Autism Society of Greater Akron
The Autism Society of Greater Akron (ASGA) in partnership with Portage Park District (PPD) invite you to trick-or-treat in the park in a supportive, accessible environment. The event is on October 20 from 12-3PM. Details can be found here!

HalloWeekends at Cedar Point
The spooky sights and blood-curdling delights of fall are back with HalloWeekends at Cedar Point! The outdoor fall event is home to daytime fun, Halloween activities and shows for the family. And as darkness falls, fright zones, haunted houses and scary scenes all come alive for all who dare to brave the fog-covered paths and terrifying trails. HalloWeekends runs on select days and nights, September 12 – November 2. Details here.

  • First and foremost, Cedar Point is about fun. Fun for everyone. Here you’ll find everything you need to know about navigating and enjoying the park and all of its experiences for those with disabilities.

Miscellaneous Activities

Autism Society of Greater Akron
ASGA events and fundraisers bring the Greater Akron Autism community together for education, networking, and fun. They offer everyone in the Autism community, a safe, welcoming, non-judgmental place to learn, participate, and support ASGA. Check out their event calendar.

We Rock the Spectrum – Stow Indoor Playground
We Rock the Spectrum – Stow  was founded to provide a place for children of all ability levels to play and grow together. As the only kid’s gym that offers an inclusive philosophy, we have found all children can benefit from our uniquely designed sensory equipment that is specifically designed to aid children with sensory processing disorders. Akron-Summit County Public Library is Fully Inclusive
The library is an inclusive all-star! They provide countless resources to be sensory-friendly, dementia-inclusive, mobility-accessible, and so much more. Check out their year round events.

Akron Children’s Museum
ACM works with Summit DD and exhibit designers to ensure that young visitors are included in all of the fun! Elements such as exhibit height, wheelchair accessibility, and multisensory components are incorporated. In addition, ACM partnered with KultureCity to improve their ability to assist anyone with sensory sensitivites. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
The museum has full accessibility for wheelchairs, plus sensory bags and tools to make your visit comfortable. More information here.

Sky Zone Sensory Hours
Enjoy the freedom of jumping. Sensory hours provide a quieter, toned-down jumping experience for those with special needs. Find participating Sky Zone locations.

Chuck E. Cheese Sensory Sensitive Sundays
Chuck E. Cheese is proud to support families who have children with autism and other special needs. We offer a sensory-friendly experience on the first Sunday of every month at participating locations, opening our stores two hours before their normal opening time. Our Sensory Sensory events include a trained and caring staff that work to ensure each guest has a fun-filled visit. We realize that the Chuck E. experience can be very stimulating for any child, so our mission is to create an event that allows ALL kids to be a kid. Find participating Chuck E. Cheese locations.
