In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re showcasing successful employment stories in our community! Meet Mary Helen. For 15 years, she has been an essential part of the Summit DD team.
“I started 15 years ago as a receptionist at the Summit DD Southern Center Day Program Center. It’s amazing how much things have changed over the years. And it went by so fast!” said Mary Helen.
Mary Helen is now the first face you see when you visit Summit DD’s new Cuyahoga Falls headquarters. “I enjoy the people the most, and our atmosphere. I have always loved my job here,” Mary Helen continued.
Over the years, Mary Helen has volunteered for countless committees, including the Support Summit DD Annual Golf Outing. She also helped distribute essential information and resources to disability service providers throughout the community in the pandemic. Outside of Summit DD, Mary Helen is working on getting an associate’s degree in communications at Stark State.
“Most importantly, I enjoy the people I work with. I have so many friends at Summit DD. It’s truly an honor to work somewhere that helps so many people…including me!” Mary Helen concluded.
