It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
For the 5th consecutive year, Summit DD was proud to partner with the City of Akron during Winterblast! Featuring family-friendly events and attractions all winter, Winterblast at Lock 3 is one of Northeast Ohio’s most popular spots to celebrate the holiday season. The 5th Annual Summit DD at Winterblast event took place Saturday, December 2, 2023 and provided inclusive and accessible winter programming for all.
Summit DD supported activities included: sensory-friendly visit with Santa, accessible ice-skating with adaptive ice sled, ice aids and ice bike available, shuffleboard and polar putt-putt support, visits with Archie the Snowman, and cookie decorating. The Inclusioneers Mobile Sensory Bus, supported by Summit DD staff, was also available for families who needed a sensory break from the activities. Around 30 families participated in the winter festivities!
During the event, Summit DD was honored to receive a $2500.00 donation from the Italian American Professional and Businessmen’s Club – their 48th annual donation to Summit DD! Summit DD thanks the Italian American Professional and Businessmen’s Club for their continued support!
This year’s Summit DD at Winterblast event also featured collaboration with other entities such as Akron-Summit County Public Library, Akron Children’s Museum, Akron Art Museum, Replay for Kids, Piper’s Key, Super Special Publications, LiniBug Foundation, Italian American Professional and Businessmen’s Club.
